A Success Story to Share

Hi! My name is Stacey. I live in Iowa and decided in April to join the Thirty-One family. I joined for several reasons: I loved all the products I saw in the catalog; I had never heard of Thirty-One before; I knew it would go over well in my area because no one else in my area had ever heard of it and the products are all not only cute, but very practical and affordable; and lastly, because my husband had been stressing out about being able to continue paying the bills with only his income. I'm very blessed to be a stay-at-home mom to our son, Cash.
After trying to get pregnant for what seemed an eternity, we finally succeeded in 2003 only to have many complications with the pregnancy, including APS (basically my blood is too thick to go through the umbilical cord) and I ended up with HELLP syndrome (severe eclampsia). Our first son (Johnny Weston) was born December 28, 2003 by emergency C-Section while we were in Knoxville, TN visiting my husband's family for Christmas. I was 30 weeks pregnant but Weston had stopped growing around 25 weeks. He weighed 1 lb 7.4 oz and was 12 1/2 inches long. He was the tiniest baby in the NICU but was doing better than the other babies until he was 9 days old. He passed at 12 days old on Jan 9, 2004 of staph infection. It took several years before my husband and I were both ready to try for another baby, then another year and a half on top of that to get pregnant again. Our due date with our second baby was March 3 (Weston's was March 7) so as much as I tried to leave it all in God's hands, it was stressful. I had an amazing doctor who took such wonderful care of me! With this pregnancy, I had to give myself blood-thinning shots (sooo not fun!) every day. I started showing signs of pre-eclampsia the beginning of February 2009 so Johnathon Cash was delivered via C-Section on February 6. He was 4 lbs 3.4 oz and very healthy. It's so crazy to think that he's going to be two years old in less than two months! I have loved every second of being home with him for the past 22 months.
Thanks to Thirty-One, I know that I will be able to continue to be a stay-at-home mom. I have been able to put gas in my car and buy birthday and Christmas presents for our family and friends this year. While that's not been an overly huge help to my husband, the growth of my business in the past 3 months has shown us both that I CAN do this! And I know 2011 is going to be a phenomenal year for me with Thirty-One!
I am trying not to go too crazy with goal-setting but instead have been reminding myself to set small, totally obtainable goals so I don't become overwhelmed and discouraged. A couple of my goals are (1) make Senior Consultant (and I'm almost there!) and (2) have enough sales to take over a couple of our monthly bills so my husband doesn't have to work so much overtime and can spend more time with me and Cash.

I can't say that I've really done anything special to have the success that I have the past three months. I believe that God knew we needed the money for Christmas and in allowing me to come into contact with the wonderful women I've had as hostesses the past few months, He has filled that need!
I will say that I am totally NOT pushy at all at my parties. After my first two parties, I decided to throw away my presentation because I noticed that the guests eyes were glazing over when I started talking about the products. What I do instead is start off with a fun game (usually the winner and the loser get a small gift) then I go over the special, have people fill out a Guest Care Card (if you don't have this document from Tammy, get it!!!) then tell them to go ahead and look through the catalog, come up and play with the bags and accessories and feel free to ask me any questions. I noticed a jump in my sales after switching to this format. I've had people book a party with me and tell me they were booking because they not only loved the products but they loved that I didn't push them to have a party. My philosophy is "if they're interested, they'll let me know". While that may not work for everyone, it certainly has for me. The Guest Care Card is an awesome addition to my parties. Tammy sent me the document to print off and I was hooked! I use that in place of the door prize pad that we can purchase in the business supplies. I love that people can circle their level of interest so I know they absolutely are NOT interested, they ARE interested or maybe their level of interest is somewhere in the middle. In that case, I question them about hosting a party and so far every person who has been somewhere in the middle has booked! Usually it's just a matter of them not wanting to have a party that same month, but rather the next month. Or they want to know what the hostess special is before booking.

I know I've rambled on a bit (I am pretty chatty! LOL), so I'll end this with a few things I think are key to making your business successful:

* Try a few different things out at your party to find what works for YOU. What works for one of us, will not necessarily work for all of us!
* Use the Guest Care Cards for your door prize drawings, then get future parties booked in person THAT NIGHT!
* Always, always, always carry catalogs with you and reach out to those around you! When you pay a bill or go to the bank, ask the lady who's helping you if she has ever heard of Thirty-One and give her a catalog. I've gotten some great orders this way! Even if it doesn't lead into a party, those outside orders can be crucial to your success!
* Hold your hostess's hand! Make sure you are making your three (or more!) calls leading up to the party. Even if you already went over everything during the 2nd call, still get that third call in just to let her know you're there for her! I call my hostesses at least 3 times before their party plus I send them a couple emails.
* Send a thank you asap after the party! And I mean by mail. It's a very thoughtful gesture that no one really expects any more. Your hostesses will remember you!
* Join the Yahoo group if you haven't already! I learned sooo much just from reading posts in there when I first started with Thirty-One. Make sure you are using your upline and Home Office for questions, too.

Well, I could keep going on (I told you I'm chatty!) but I'm going to end this here. While I may not be your direct upline, I truly believe that we are one big family so if anyone ever needs anything, don't hesitate to email me! partywithstacey@hotmail.com

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and pray that 2011 is the best year you've ever had!
